Towards a Comparative Database of Dysarthric Articulation
نویسندگان
چکیده
This work describes ongoing data collection of synchronized acoustic and kinematic features of dysarthric speech. Recordings consist of electromagnetic articulographic measurements and 3D reconstructions from video over a variety prompts read by individuals with cerebral palsy and matching nondysarthric subjects. Preliminary results show a preponderance of mispronounced plosives in dysarthric speech, and greater articulatory variability. An experiment with a standard hidden Markov model for speech recognition resulted in 84% triphone recognition accuracy for non-dysarthric speech, but only 6% accuracy for individuals with cerebral palsy.

Assessment of Articulatory and Velopharyngeal Sub-systems of Dysarthric Speech
Dysarthria is a neuromotor impairment of speech that affects one or more of the speech sub-systems. It is reflected in the acoustic characteristics of the phonemes as deviations from their healthy counterparts. To capture these deviations, in this work a continuous speech, an isolated-style monophone-based, and a triphone-based speech recognition systems are developed. These speech recognition ...

PURPOSE In this study, the authors explored articulatory information as a means of improving the recognition of dysarthric speech by machine. METHOD Data were derived chiefly from the TORGO database of dysarthric articulation (Rudzicz, Namasivayam, & Wolff, 2011) in which motions of various points in the vocal tract are measured during speech. In the 1st experiment, the authors provided a bas...
متن کاملDysarthric speech database for universal access research
This paper describes a database of dysarthric speech produced by 19 speakers with cerebral palsy. Speech materials consist of 765 isolated words per speaker: 300 distinct uncommon words and 3 repetitions of digits, computer commands, radio alphabet and common words. Data is recorded through an 8-microphone array and one digital video camera. Our database provides a fundamental resource for auto...
متن کاملImprovement of Continuous Dysarthric Speech Quality
Dysarthria refers to a group of motor speech disorders as the result of any neurological injury to the speech production system. Dysarthric speech is characterised by poor speech articulation, resulting in degradation in speech quality. Hence, it is important to correct or improve dysarthric speech so as to enable people having dysarthria to communicate better. The aim of this paper is to impro...
متن کاملImproving automatic forced alignment for dysarthric speech transcription
Dysarthria is a motor speech disorder due to neurologic deficits. The impaired movement of muscles for speech production leads to disordered speech where utterances have prolonged pause intervals, slow speaking rates, poor articulation of phonemes, syllable deletions, etc. These present challenges towards the use of speech technologies for automatic processing of dysarthric speech data. In orde...
